Bacon is one of my most favourite ingredients in my kitchen. Thanks to German immigrant Oscar Mayer (founder of the american company owned by Kraft Foods) bacon has been popularized to “a modern today’s” bacon” in the early 1920’s. Here is one of my favourite recipes for any kind of occasion or an evening snack. It is truly very popular among my beloved. It has a very delicate and luxurious taste. The combination of bacon, beer and cane sugar makes wonders, let me tell you. Sometimes it reminds me a taste of chestnuts. Beer Bacon – it is must!
Total Time: 45 minutes
Shopping List
2kg of streaky quality bacon, sliced
100g of cane sugar
60 ml of beer
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
In a small mixing bowl place the sugar and beer. Mix well until incorporated.
Place the stripes of bacon on a roasting tray into the oven and bake for at least 30 minutes. Do not forget to place another tray with an aluminium foil underneath as the bacon fat will be dripping.
Take it out regularly every 10 minutes. Always turn the stripes and brush the mix on the top of each (repeat at least 2-3 times). Continue baking until is blackened and crispy.
Let it cool down for a bit and serve with a cold beer. Cheers!
Makes 6-8 serves.
