This one is truly one of my oldest recipes during the long period of me, being a vegetarian. I used to visit a friend of mine in the West of Slovakia and once she treated me to this easy and yummy snack – Puff Pastry Veggie Bites.

Puff Pastry Veggie Bites

Following up my previous post, if you make a homemade all butter puff pastry, the taste will be very different. However, the time is money, so you can help yourselves with a store-bought quality of pastry. The important rule: the less ingredients, the higher quality. Brie cheese, shallot and fresh basil. My guilty pleasure is to serve these bites with a pinch of good mayonnaise and ketchup.

My Puff Pastry Veggie Bites are suitable for kids from the age of 3. Offer as an afternoon snack. Do not forget to involve them in the preparation.

Total Time: 40 minutes

Shopping List

1 package of all butter puff pastry (around 250g)
1 round Brie cheese
1 handful of fresh basil, washed
1 large shallot, peeled and slice
1 whole egg, lightly whisked

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Sprinkle your working board with some plain flour. Roll out the pastry into the square and cut out little squares as large as you want your bites to be. In the middle place a slice of shallot, fresh basil and a piece of Brie. Wrap like a little bag and glue with a lightly whisked egg.
