Easy Farmer’s Cheese Fondue Recipe has been for many years in our family book. Originally, I remember the recipe from the TV when I was a kid and my favourite Slovak actor was baking it in the show. Ever since, my mom has been preparing it for us throughout my childhood. So easy and yummy, my daughter couldn’t get enough of it. Especially for cheese lovers, bon appetit!
Farmer’s Cheese Fondue is very fast in preparation and suitable for kids from the age of 3. Offer as an easy dinner and dip into heaven!
Total Time: 30 minutes
1 tablespoon of lard
100g of good bacon, cleaned and chopped
1 small yellow paprika, washed, cleaned and finely chopped
1 small red paprika, washed, cleaned and finely chopped
1 teaspoon of satureja, Provencal herbs and smoked sweet paprika powder
3-4 squares of creamy cheese
2 cups of sour cream
1 teaspoon of Vegeta Spice Natur/sea salt optional
First, preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Afterwards, place the bread in a lightly greased large baking tray. Cut the top off and remove the inside with hands. Always important is not to waste any bread. So take out the pieces of bread and put them on the tray. Do not hesitate to dedicate this job to your little ones.
Next, melt a knob of lard in a small frying pan and place the bacon in. Roast until the bacon gets nicely crispy in about 2-3 minutes on high heat.
Then, stir in the paprikas and all the herbs plus spices: satureja, Provencal herbs, smoked paprika. Sauté for about 2 more minutes until it softens.
Take off the heat and place in the bottom of the bread bowl and on the top of your prepared bread. Use all the scrumptious juice to scrub it to the inside of the bread. This gives a yummy taste and a great texture of the Farmer’s Cheese Fondue.
Meanwhile, in a small mixing bowl place the creamy cheese, sour cream and season with Vegeta. Taste and taste. You can add fresh herbs to your liking.
Pour the mixture on top of the bacon and smoothen. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until it is set and golden on top. Serve the Farmer’s Cheese Fondue immediately with a good cold lager. Dip the insides of the bread in the deliciousness.
