Spring is one of my favourite seasons. I say favourite because all the seasons have something I like and I am looking forward to.
Everyone has a little bit of a child inside, and to observe the beauty out there is just rejuvenating. We feel somehow younger, healthier and prettier. Blackbirds and woodpeckers have returned once again and all the insects are awaking slowly. Trees are starting to flower.
Following winter and preceding summer, spring is beautiful, not only weather wise. Rather than that, spring is a true gastronomic feast.
What is your Gastronomic Feast?
After the season of more satisfying stews, thick soups and fulfilling desserts, I can smell freshness in the air. The freshness of young meat specials e.g. rabbits, veal, lamb. Moreover, a large variation of green and other colorful vegetables, fruits or eatable flowers. So much to work with. Lighter and fresher meals are taking over. So let’s enjoy them together.
The Summer is a time after the rebirth in the Spring. A time when all fruits and vegetables are fully available and when the grill can be put back on your terrace.
As my boyfriend always says: “There is nothing better than drinking some ice cold beer (Heineken in his case) during a warm and sweaty day”. The warmer days of the year help a lot of people to feel better and feel more free. Do not get me wrong, I do love the short Winter days too. Every season has it’s charm.
